The Emu River is a river in the northwest of the Australian state of Tasmania .

River course

The river arises in the Companion Reservoir on the western slopes of Companion Hill , around seven kilometers east of the Hellyer Gorge . From there it flows to the north-northeast and flows into the Bass Strait in Wivenhoe , about three kilometers east of Burnie .
