Beyond Memory is a Spanish feature film from 2002.
action
Max is an old man. He is terminally ill and is in a hospital in Paris . His family travels to his death. His wife Marie receives the family in a Paris hotel and they discuss Max's strange behavior. He had already tried to escape from the hospital. The dying man is scared, but the family doesn't know what. The patriarch Max also doesn't have the best contact with the rest of the family. Only son Victor finds access to Max. Victor smuggles the father out of the hospital. The family finds out about it and makes sure that Max comes back to the hospital and is guarded in the future. Victor now tries to find out the secret behind his father's fear, and discovers that his father's secret can be found far back in the family's past and hides a refugee drama from the time of the Franco dictatorship.

The film had its world premiere at the Berlinale 2002 , where it was shown in the Panorama section. It premiered in Spain on February 28, 2002 and was shown in Spanish cinemas on March 1, 2002.
Awards
At the Goya Awards 2003 , the script was named the best script of the year. Geraldine Chaplin received the award for Best Supporting Actress of the Year.
