The Enenkel (also Enenkl, Enenkhl, Enenchel) are a small Austrian noble family who got involved with wealthy middle-class families around the turn of the 14th to the 15th century and produced important family members (e.g. Job Hartmann von Enenkel ). In the 14th century the Enenkels were mainly feudal people of the Schaunberger .

Rudel der Enenchel received the seat of Bergheim near Ottensheim from Heinrich von Schaunberg in 1339 as a fief. His son Werner was a keeper at Schaunberg Castle in 1350 and also owned Haitzing Castle in the Hausruckviertel. Also in the land under the Enns the Enenkel could take possession of them. In Ybbs beat them on their home. From there came Jörg Enenkel, who was ordered to Linz around 1390 as an official of the Dukes of Austria .

The Enenkel can also be found as citizens in Mauthausen , as evidenced by a sales deed to Hanns der Enykchl from 1388, issued by Eberhard II von Kapellen . Such a bourgeois gender can also be found in Enns ( Ennsburg ).

Jörg Enenkel von Ybbs († 1415) took over ownership of Haizing in 1379. By marrying Anna, a daughter of Hermann von Ezzlorn (Esslarn), he came to a considerable fortune. The marriage with his second wife Barbara, daughter of Vinzenz von Fläming, brought him Schloss Albrechtsberg an der Pielach . Jörg Enenkel was called von Ybbs until 1401, and from 1406 he was named Jorg der Enigchell von Albrechtsperg. In 1390 he became a Mautner and city judge in Linz and thus came to extremely profitable regalia and became one of the most influential personalities in Linz. In 1397 he bought the Lonstorf Castle from Otto von Ehrenfels and his mother Kunigunde von Lonstorf , and in 1405 this property passed to the Sambnerians. He is on numerous documents in the Linz area, but also on those of Reinprecht II. Von Walsee , captain ob der Enns (mostly original feud letters or promises not to harbor any enmity after a release). The offices he held brought him such a high income that he also had the opportunity to lend money to his sovereign. For it has made him Duke Albrecht turn to carers of Ischelland and bailiff charged by Gmunden. In 1414 he also received permission to develop, mine and use all ores in the country, a special grant from the sovereign. He was also based in Vienna and had a house there near St. Stephan. Towards the end of his life he donated large sums to the church for the salvation of his soul and that of his housewife. Georg Enenkel († 1415) became his successor on Albrechtsberg, as can be seen from a document from Bishop Leonhart von Passau. He is buried in Mauer's chapel, which he founded himself.

In Enns in 1357 an Ullein (Ulrich) Enenkel from house owners in the "nydern Reintal" is listed. His daughter Elsbeth was married to Hanns der Sparsgut. Her brother Heinrich inherited the house in Reintal and, together with his sisters, other goods. Heinrich again had a son Ulrich, according to a document from 1435 from the Michelbeuern monastery . Ulrich for his part had three sons (Wolfgang, Lienhart and Stephan), who in 1482 raised claims to the inheritance of the savings estate. In 1483 there was also a division of the inheritance of Bernhard Sparsgut, who had left no bodily heirs, with other co-heirs. A division of property was also made among the sons of Ulrich. Lienhart Enenkel had two sons (Thoman and Jakob), while Wolfgang and Stephan had no male offspring. The property in Lonstorf went to Thoman Enenkel, who was also city judge in Enns (with interruptions between 1529 and 1542). After his death and the demise of his sisters Sabina and Katharine, Jacob Eneckhl (1567) took over the inheritance.
