Jouko Juhani Järvinen (born May 9, 1935 in Tuulos , † May 31, 1984 in Helsinki ) was a Finnish speed skater .
Career
Järvinen was all around world champion in Oslo in 1959 . At the European Championships in Gothenburg in 1959 , he won the silver medal. His best result at the Olympic Games was a fourth place in 1956 in Cortina d'Ampezzo .
In 1959 he ran a world record over 1500 meters of 2: 06.3 minutes. That record lasted for seven years.
Järvinen led the nobility calendar between 1959 and 1960 intermittently.
His son Timo works as a trainer and is married to the speed skater Emese Hunyady, who used to start for Austria .
