Harald Aleksander Strøm (born October 14, 1897 in Horten , † December 25, 1977 in Borre ) was a Norwegian speed skater and footballer .

Strøm was in 1922 in Kristiania speed skating world champion in the all-around and in 1923 in Stockholm vice world champion behind Clas Thunberg . In 1923 he also won gold at the European Championships in Hamar .

Strøm was the flag bearer for Norway at the opening ceremony of the 1924 Olympic Games in Chamonix . However, he caught a cold and could not live up to his role as one of the favorites.

His best route was the 5000 meters. He was the first person to run it under 8:30 minutes. His best performance of 8: 26.5 minutes was a world record for seven years until it was beaten by Ivar Ballangrud in 1929 .

Strøm became Norwegian football champions in 1920 and 1927 with his club Ørn-Horten. He played 16 times for the Norwegian national team.
