Knut "Kupper'n" Johannesen (born November 6, 1933 in Oslo ) is a former Norwegian speed skater .

Johannesen won in 1957 and 1964 all-around world championships and in 1959 and 1960 all-around European Championships . At the 1956 Olympic Games in Cortina d'Ampezzo , he won silver over the 10,000 meters and silver over the 5000 meters. Four years later in Squaw Valley he became Olympic champion over 10,000 meters. In 1964 in Innsbruck he won gold again over 5000 meters and bronze over 10,000 meters.

Johannesen set four world records during his active time . He led the nobility calendar between 1960 and 1964 for 1,100 days. His best score was 178.358 points.

In 1957 he was honored with the Morgenbladet Gold Medal and in 1959 with the Oscar Mathisen Memorial Trophy . In 1960 he won the election for Norway's Sportsman of the Year and the Fearnleys olympiske ærespris .
