Michael Staksrud (born June 2, 1908 in Gran ; † November 10, 1940 ) was a Norwegian speed skater .
Staksrud belonged to the so-called "Hadeland Trio", which consisted of the speed skaters Ivar Ballangrud and Hans Engnestangen and which dominated speed skating in the 1930s.
Staksrud was all-around world champion in Oslo in 1930, 1935 and 1937 . In 1932 and 1933 he won the silver medal behind Ivar Ballangrud and Hans Engnestangen , respectively . He also won the European Championships in Hamar in 1934 and in Davos in 1937 .
Despite participating in three Olympic Games, Staksrud did not win an Olympic medal.
Staksrud led the nobility calendar for 728 days between 1937 and 1939. His highest value in the nobility calendar was 189,750 points.
He set two world records. On February 25, 1933 in Hamar , in direct competition with the previous world record holder Engnestangen, he beat the existing world record over the distance of 3000 meters with 4: 59.1 by a tenth of a second. He set another world record on January 31, 1937 over 1500 meters in Davos , where he ran 2: 14.9. In the same year he was honored with the Morgenbladet gold medal.
Staksrud drowned at the age of 32.
