Hans van Helden (born April 27, 1948 in Almkerk , Noord-Brabant ) is a former Dutch - French speed skater .

Van Helden won his first international medals at the European speed skating all- around championships in 1973 in Grenoble, France, and in Eskilstuna , Sweden in 1974 - silver and bronze in the four-way competition. His most successful year was 1976, when he won bronze medals at the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck, Austria , in the 1500 m, 5000 m and 10,000 m. The speed skating all-around world championship in 1976 in Heerenveen , the Netherlands, he also finished with the bronze after he had run the best time over 5000 m. He finished fourth in the Sprint World Championship . In addition, he set two new world records over 1500 m and 5000 m this season.
