Magne Arnfinn Thomassen (born May 1, 1941 in Melhus , Sør-Trøndelag ) is a former Norwegian speed skater . He took part in international competitions between 1962 and 1972.

Thomassen was Norwegian all-round champion of 1968 (overall ranking of the races over 500 m, 1500 m, 5000 m and 10,000 m). In the same year he won the silver medal over 500 m at the X. Winter Olympic Games in Grenoble , behind Erhard Keller and at the same time as Richard McDermott .

At the all- around world championships in 1968 and 1970 he came second, at the sprint world championships in 1970 he won the bronze medal. In 1970 and 1971 he was also the Norwegian sprint champion.

On February 5, 1972 Thomassen achieved a time of 2: 02.5 minutes over 1500 m in Davos , setting a new world record. However, this was already exceeded two days later by Cornelis Verkerk .
