Richard Terrance "Terry" McDermott (born September 20, 1940 in Essexville , Michigan ) is a former American speed skater .
He was the surprise winner over 500 meters at the 1964 Olympic Games in Innsbruck , when he the reigning Olympic champion Yevgeny Grishin with half a second ahead beat . In 1968 he was able to win silver again over this route at the Olympic Games.
