John Sigvard "Sigge" Ericsson (born July 17, 1930 in Alanäset , Jämtlands län ; † November 2, 2019 ) was a Swedish speed skater .

In 1955, Ericsson was the first Swede to become world champion in the all-around competition . He succeeded in doing this in Moscow , of all places , at a time when speed skaters from the Soviet Union had established themselves among the world's best. So he relegated Oleg Goncharenko and Boris Schilkow to their places. In the same year Ericsson also won the European Championships in Falun . For these achievements he was honored with the Svenska Dagbladet gold medal.

After taking part in the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo without winning a medal , he became Olympic champion over 10,000 meters at the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo and won the silver medal over 5,000 meters.

In 1957 Ericsson ended his international career after he had finished a disappointing ninth place at the all-around world championships in his hometown Östersund .
