Roberto Sighel (born February 17, 1967 in Trento ) is a former Italian speed skater .

Sighel became the first and so far only Italian world champion in the all- around event in Calgary in 1992 . He also won silver in 1991 and bronze in 1995 and 1998 at the all- around world championships .

Sighel's career spanned 14 years. He took part in all five Winter Olympic Games from 1988 to 2002 , but without winning a medal.

In 1999 he set a new world hour record in speed skating with 41.041 km . He ran almost 850 meters further in the Olympic Oval than the previous record holder Olaf Kotva from Germany . It would take almost five years for Dutchman Henk Angenent to surpass his mark in 2004.
