Enevold Sövenbröder ( Also: Enwald Sövenbroder, Enwaldus Soevenbroder ) († August 14, 1504 ) was court master of Duke Frederick I of Schleswig and Holstein and in 1488 elected bishop of Schleswig .

Life

He was a son of Benedikt von Ahlefeldt auf Seegaart and great-grandson of Benedictus de Alevelde senior , the first known representative of the von Ahlefeld family . He owes his name to the fact that he was one of seven brothers.

Enevold Sövenbröder was secretary to King Christoph I , his widow, Queen Dorothea , and their sons, King Johann I and his brother Duke Friedrich I. Under Friedrich I he became court master and after the death of Helwig von der Wisch in 1488 elected Bishop of Schleswig by the majority of the cathedral chapter . But since Pope Innocent VIII favored Eggert Dürkop as bishop, Enevold Sövenbröder felt compelled to give way. He retired to Kiel , where he died as vicar on August 14, 1504 and was buried in a chapel in St. Nicolai's Church .
