Enkingen is a district of the Bavarian community Möttingen in the Donau-Ries district .

geography

The church village of Enkingen is about two kilometers north of Möttingen.

history

The place is probably an Alemannic foundation. Enkingen was first mentioned in a document in 1251. In the Middle Ages who had counts of Oettingen , managed by Oberamt Alerheim , the basic rule in place.

On January 1, 1975, the previously independent municipality of Enkingen was incorporated into the municipality of Möttingen.

St. Jodokus Church

The nave was built at the beginning of the 17th century, the choir with tracery windows dates from the end of the 14th century. The St. Evangelical Lutheran Church, consecrated to Jodoku , was a subsidiary of Möttingen until 1939 . It is entered in the list of monuments.
