Enneapterygius is a genus of small marine fish from the family of the three-fin slime fish(Tripterygiidae). All species of this genus occur in the Pacific and Indian Oceans . Like all three-fin slime fish, they are bottom-dwelling, very hidden fish.

features

Diagnostic features of the genus Enneapterygius are the broken sideline , with a front section formed from 6 to 22 scales provided with tubular pores and a rear section from 13 to 27 indented scales. Other features of Enneapterygius include the absence of scales on the head, on the gill covers, on the abdomen and base of the pelvic fins, three spine rays in the first dorsal fin and one in the anal fin and ventral fins supported by a spine and two soft rays. In the tail fin skeleton five could Hypuralia be present or absent.

There are about 60 species in the Enneapterygius genus . This makes it the most species-rich genus of the three-fin slime fish.
