Enrico Cardinal Dante (born July 5, 1884 in Rome , Italy , † April 24, 1967 ibid) was an Italian clergyman and cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church .

Enrico Dante was a seminarian at the Almo Collegio Capranica , after studying Catholic theology and philosophy at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, he received the sacrament of priestly ordination on July 3, 1910 in the church of Sant'Apollinare in Rome by Giuseppe Ceppetelli . He then worked at the Rota Romana and then at the Congregation Propagande Fide .

From 1913 he was an official at the Apostolic Penitentiary . From 1914 he worked as papal ceremonial and in 1923 also became a member of the Congregation for Rites , where he rose to become a substitute in 1930. From 1943 on he was Pro-Secretary for the Congregation of Ceremonies and Pontifical House Prelate . In 1947 he was appointed Prefect of the Congregation for the Ceremonies of the Pope. In addition, he was pro-secretary at the Congregation for Rites from 1959, in which he was appointed secretary on January 5, 1960.

Pope John XXIII appointed him on August 28, 1962 titular bishop of Carpasia and on September 21 of the same year donated him the episcopal ordination in the Lateran basilica ; Co-consecrators were the Curia Archbishops and later Curia Cardinals Francesco Carpino and Pietro Parente . Pope Paul VI took him on February 22, 1965 as a cardinal deacon with the title deaconry Sant'Agata dei Goti in the college of cardinals .

Enrico Dante died in Rome in the early morning of April 24, 1967 and was buried in the church of Sant'Agata dei Goti .
