The Enterprise was a frigate in the English Royal Navy . She was the first ship to be named Enterprise . The sailing ship , which was in service from 1705 to 1707 , with 24 cannons was classified as a ship of the sixth and lowest rank in the ranking of warships at the time . Until its capture by the British Tryton in May 1705, it was under the name L'Entreprise in the service of the French Navy and was probably used in the Mediterranean.

Under the command of J. Paul the ship was transferred to the shipyards of Livorno in Italy . Two years later, on May 19, 1707, the Enterprise left the Livorno shipyard under the command of W. Davenport. On October 12, 1707 she went under at Thornton .
