Epaminondas Nunes de Ávila e Silva (born July 4, 1869 in Serro , Minas Gerais , Brazil , † June 29, 1935 in Rio de Janeiro ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Taubaté .

Life

Epaminondas Nunes de Ávila e Silva studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology at the seminary in Diamantina . He received on 17 July 1892 by the bishop of Diamantina , João Antônio dos Santos , the sacrament of Holy Orders . Nunes de Ávila e Silva then worked as parish vicar in Serro. In 1908 he was appointed canon of honor at the cathedral in Diamantina and synodal examiner.

On April 29, 1909, Pope Pius X appointed him the first bishop of Taubaté. The auxiliary bishop in Rio de Janeiro , Joaquim Silvério de Souza , donated him episcopal ordination on September 8 of the same year . The inauguration took place on November 21, 1909.
