Epic Meal Time is a Canadian YouTube - cooking show for extremely-calorie food, which mostly of meat there, and alcohol contains. It was released in October 2010 and is moderated by Harley Morenstein and a group of friends.

The host, speaker, and co-creator is Harley Morenstein (* 1985), a former Montreal auxiliary high school teacher . He created the show with Sterling Toth acting as the cameraman . Former Concordia University students David Heuff, Tyler Lemco, Josh Elkin, and Ameer Atari also make repeated appearances on the show. Evan Rimer is the production partner. A frequent appearance was Alex Perrault, a fitness trainer whose character "Muscles Glasses" wore aviator glasses in most of the episodes .

In 2013 Perrault and Lemco left the show.

history

The idea for Epic Meal Time came about when a friend of Morenstein 's filmed Morenstein while eating a Wendy's Hamburger. The hamburger contained six slices of minced meat and eighteen strips of bacon , with the theme song from Terminator playing in the background . The group posted the footage on YouTube , where thousands watched. It was decided to shoot the first episode of Epic Meal Time , called " The Worst Pizza Ever! " (In German: The worst pizza of all time ). In the episode, they cooked a " Fast Food Pizza " that featured a Kentucky Fried Chicken Popcorn Chicken, a Taco , a McDonald's Big Mac , Chicken Nuggets , a Wendy's Baconator, French Fries , an A&W Teen Burger (a Bacon Cheeseburger ), onion rings and a cheese pizza was included. The full meal was 5210 kilocalories and 286 grams of fat. The video was uploaded to YouTube on October 17, 2010.

Success of the show

The show quickly became very popular and soon reached millions of viewers per episode: by 2014, the YouTube channel had 6.5 million users. Morenstein was able to give up his job as a teacher and Toth his job as a graphic designer . In March 2011 Morenstein and Toth won a Shorty Award in the "Food" category.

Television broadcast

In August 2014, the American television channel Fyi launched the program Epic Meal Empire , which mixes the concept of the online broadcast with components of a reality show. Morenstein, Atari, Heuff and Elkin all appear on the show. They also continue to produce the online show weekly.
