Erchinger II von Wesen ( Erkengerus de Wesen ) from the lords of Wesen was a follower of the Babenberg duke Friedrich II and 1230/31 burgrave of Linz and administrator of the Traungau .

Erchinger von Wesen married Agnes von Waldeck around 1230 . He fought on the side of the young Duke Friedrich II against the Bavarian Duke Otto II , who had also just taken over the business of government. Erchinger conquered Schärding and the Benedictine monastery Vornbach (Formbach) , which had sided with Otto II. These conquests lay in the area of ​​the Andechs estates on the lower Inn , which Friedrich's second wife Agnes von Andechs had brought into the marriage. Friedrich II appointed Erchinger for his services in 1230 and 1231 burgrave of Linz. In return, however, Duke Otto moved in 1233 via Ried , theHausruck and Haag into the Babenberger area, occupied Wels and set the Lambach monastery on fire.

Erchinger reached a great age and was buried in Engelhartszell .
