The Himalayan steppe candle ( Eremurus himalaicus ) is a type of plant from the genus steppe candles ( Eremurus ) in the subfamily of the Affodill family (Asphodeloideae).
features
The Himalayan steppe candle is a perennial , herbaceous plant that forms a rhizome and reaches heights of (75) 100 to 250 centimeters. The leaves are 15 to 50 millimeters wide. The bracts are ciliate and linear-sub-like. The flower stalks have a length of up to 30 millimeters, are protruding and more or less upright at the fruiting time. The tepals are 17 to 20 millimeters long and white. The capsule fruits are wrinkled and have a diameter of about 14 millimeters.
The flowering time is in June.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 14.
Occurrence
The distribution area includes the Northwest Himalayas to Himachal Pradesh, Pakistan and northern Afghanistan . Here the Himalayan steppe candle occurs on open slopes and subalpine meadows at altitudes of up to 3600 meters.

The Himalayan steppe candle is rarely used as an ornamental plant. It has been in culture since 1881 at the latest.
