Ergas Leps

Ergas Leps (born August 25, 1939 in Pärnu , Estonia ) is a former Canadian middle-distance runner who was used because of his sprint strength in the 4-by-400-meter relay .

At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960, he reached the quarter-finals over 800 m and the semifinals in the 4 x 400 meter relay .

Four years later he reached the semi-finals over 1500 m at the Olympic Games in Rome in 1964 .

At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston in 1966 , he finished seventh in the mile run and failed over 880 yards in the run.

In 1970 he was twelfth over 1500 m at the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh and was eliminated over 800 m in the semifinals.

Twice he was Canadian champion over 800 m (1969, 1970) and six times over 1500 m or a mile (1963-1966, 1970, 1971). In 1964 he was also US indoor champion over a mile.
