Eric Benét (2008)

Eric Benét Jordan (born October 15, 1966 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin ) is an American rhythm and blues singer.

Life

Eric Benét grew up as the youngest of five children in a very musical family. As a result, he began to make music himself at an early age and joined the church choir of his community. In the mid-1980s he gained his first experience on stage with the cover band Gerard in various clubs in the area. But the potential of this formation was exhausted pretty quickly and did not satisfy Benét. Therefore, he got out a short time later and founded the Benét group with his sister and cousin . There was much more to this constellation, and so they were signed by Capitol Records (label from the EMI Group ), who released their debut album Benét in 1992.

In April 1993, 15 months after the birth of their daughter India, his girlfriend Tami was killed in a car accident. A very difficult time began for Benét, both family and musically. In order to make ends meet for himself and his daughter, he first worked at UPS for a while . Since he did not want to give up his musical goal, he took on guest roles on the CDs of various artists in order to draw attention to his talent.

Benét processed many experiences and emotions of this time in a creative way and translated them into songs. After a while he sent a demo to a manager at Warner Bros. who was still producing Benét for Capitol Records in 1992 . This took him again under contract due to high quality song material. In 1996 his solo debut album True to Myself was released . So he produced his second album A Day in the Life , which after its release in 1999 proved more radio-friendly and sold much better and received a gold award . In particular, the hit Spend My Life with You , which was also awarded gold and a Grammy , established Eric Benét in the American rhythm and blues scene. In 2005 he released his third album Hurricane . In 2006 he released the duet Where Does the Love Go? with Yvonne Catterfeld .

From 2001 to 2005 he was married to actress Halle Berry . In 2001 he was seen at the side of Mariah Carey in the music film Glitter - Shine of a Star .
