Eric Metaxas (2012)

Eric Metaxas (born 1963 in Astoria , Queens , New York City ) is an American author, public speaker and radio host. He became best known for his two biographies, Amazing Grace: William Wilberforce and the Heroic Campaign to End Slavery on William Wilberforce and Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy on Dietrich Bonhoeffer . He has also written humorous books, children's books and scripts for the VeggieTales . Metaxas is the founder and showmaster of the Socrates in the City: Conversations on the Examined Life series and the radio program The Eric Metaxas Show .

Life

Metaxas was born in Astoria , New York City . He is Greek on his father's side, German on his mother's side and grew up in Danbury, Connecticut, in a Greek Orthodox environment. He studied at Yale University , where he was editor of the humorous campus magazine Yale Record . Metaxas lives in Manhattan with his wife Susanne and daughter .
