Eric Trevorrow

Eric Trevorrow (born 1926 in Glasgow ; † October 2, 2015 in Newtownards ) was a Scottish football player .

Athletic career

Trevorrow played for Parkhead Football Club in the Scottish Junior Football Association before the full- back moved to Northern Ireland for professional reasons . There he ran in the 1940s and 1950s for Ballymena United in the Irish League . A first title win he succeeded with his team in 1948 by winning the County Antrim Shields , which was repeated in 1951. In 1951 he moved with the team also in the final of the Irish Cup , which ended, however, in Belfast Windsor Park with a 1: 3 defeat against Glentoran FC .

In 1952 Trevorrow and his team won the Festival of Britain Cup, which was held once on the occasion of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the “ Great Exhibition ” , and Crusaders FC were clearly defeated with a 3-0 final win. That same year he received a personal award when the defender was named Ulster Footballer of the Year .

1958 won Trevorrow with Ballymena United his last title as under the newly committed coach Alex McCrae of Linfield FC in the Irish Cup final was defeated. A successful title defense despite reaching the final in 1959 was denied him, this time the Glenavon FC prevailed in a replay necessary after a 1-1 draw in the regular final game.

During his time in Northern Ireland Trevorrow was appointed several times in the Irish Football League selection team.
