Eric van Oosterhout

HF (Eric) van Oosterhout (born April 6, 1961 in Breda ) is a Dutch local politician of the Partij van de Arbeid . Since 2017 he is the mayor of the Drentsche municipality Emmen .

Career

Van Oosterhout grew up in the Hague district of Moewijk . From the age of 14 he lived in Zwolle . After graduating from Middelbare School , he studied at the University of Groningen . As a conscientious objector , he did his community service with the school pedagogical service of East Groningen.

His professional career began in the administrative department of Veendam Municipality , where he was responsible for education. He later worked for the Dutch Ministry of Education and Science and as deputy director of the school education service, where he had already done his community service.

He then returned to Veendam and took over the management of the Welfare and Education department. From January 1, 2005, he served there as a community secretary . On September 18, 2007 he was elected mayor of the Drentschen community of Aa en Hunze as the successor to Rein Munniksma . He has been the mayor of Emmen since March 2017, succeeding Cees Bijl .
