Aa en Hunze ( listen ? / I ) is a municipality in the north-northeast of the Dutch province of Drenthe . The name refers to the Drentsche Aa and Hunze rivers running through the town . On January 31, 2019, the municipality had a total of 25,359 inhabitants in the 278.87 km² area, of which around 2.62 km² is water. The community was established in 1998 as a merger of the communities Rolde , Gasselte , Gieten and Anloo . Audio file / audio sample
