Location of Gieten in the municipality of Aa en Hunze |
Gieten is a place in the Dutch province of Drenthe . The formerly independent municipality has been part of the municipality of Aa en Hunze since the merger with Rolde, Gasselte and Anloo since 1998 ; their municipal administration is located in Gieten.
Gieten is known for the annual cyclocross race Veldrit Gieten .

reformed Church
The place of interest (in the center) is the reformed church ( Hervormde Kerk ) from the 17th century. The tower was raised in 1804 and the nave was rebuilt in 1849. Noteworthy in terms of furnishings are the baptismal font , the pulpit from the 17th century, the church stalls carved from oak wood from the 18th century, the organ from 1894 created by the organ builder family Lambertus van Dam and Sons in Leeuwarden and two bells from 1520 and 1565.
Since 1965 the church has been listed as a Rijksmonument .
