Erich Fritz Reuter

Erich "Fritz" Reuter , actually Erich Karl Reuter (born September 2, 1911 in Berlin ; † September 16, 1997 in Stolpe ), was a German sculptor , artist and art professor.

Life

Reuter grew up in poor conditions in Berlin-Charlottenburg and attended the Kölln high school in Berlin-Mitte. In 1926 Reuter left grammar school and began an apprenticeship as a stonemason. He also attended the arts and crafts school in Berlin-Charlottenburg. In 1934 he began studying at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin, which he graduated in 1940. His military service was interrupted in 1942 by further artistic training with Professor Cambini. In 1945 he returned from captivity and opened a studio in Dresden. In 1949 he returned to Berlin. In 1952 he was appointed full professor at the chair for sculptural design at the Technical University of Berlin . From 1966 to 1968 he was visiting professor at Istanbul Technical University . In 1978 he retired.

Erich Fritz Reuter was a member of the German Association of Artists .

  • 1960: First prize for the design for the German Embassy in Rio de Janeiro
  • 1961: First prize in the international competition for a square design with a monument in the city of Wolfsburg
