Altenkrempe is a municipality north of Neustadt in Holstein in the Ostholstein district in Schleswig-Holstein . In addition to Altenkrempe, it consists of Hasselburg , Jarkau , Kassau , Klaushorst , Mühlenkamp , Plunkau , Rogerfelde , Sibstin , Sierhagen and Stolpe .
history
In 1170, Crempine was first mentioned in the Chronica Slavorum by Helmold von Bosau as a waterway name, because Altenkrempes' origins are Slavic. The place name “Crempene”, derived from this water body name, also originated from an Old Slavic word: either from “cręp” for “body of water” or from “crępina” for “small, small, insignificant” (in contrast to inland water, which the Slavs probably “ morice "=" little sea ") or from a folk etymological combination of both words. The place name Crempene appears in a document for the first time in 1197 after the Germanization by Duke Adolf III.
This cream was made by Duke Adolf III. made by Holstein in the course of the Slavs conversion and conquest and the Christian and German penetration of Wagrien to a German location. While Süsel, besieged by Slavs in 1147, was already Christian and settled by Frisians, the inland waterway area , and especially the castle on an island, was still a base for Slavic pirates; at least from the point of view of Helmold von Bosau.
Around 1280 the place was mentioned as Antiqua Krempa and around 1316 as Oldhenkrempe . The additional designation Alt was from 1244 necessary to distinguish between the new foundation "de Nyge Crempe, unlike geheten Nyestad (-Neustadt)" after Adolf IV. , The son of Adolf III., After the victory in the Battle of Bornhöved (1227) started had to consolidate the rule in Wagrien by founding Kiel, Neustadt and other coastal cities and to further develop the administration of his dominion.
The basilica in Altenkrempe was probably started around 1190 (secure construction dates have not been handed down), i.e. about 50 years before the foundation of Nygen Crempe and the (certainly handed down) construction of the town church there . Presumably, the start of construction on the Altenkremper Church marked the end of the local Slavic mission as part of the Wendenkreuzzug . Both churches emerged as simple choir rooms, were retained over the centuries and developed parallel to one another into important buildings.
During the Thirty Years' War, Wallenstein besieged Krempe because the Danish troops fleeing from him had fled there. In November 1628 he forced the Danes in brim to surrender. This effectively ended the Danish-Lower Saxon war and opened the way to peace in Lübeck .
In 2018 an archaeologist discovered the remains of a settlement from the time of the first century AD in the area of a planned new development. Excavations could provide important insights for the country's history, such as the interplay between German settlers and the established Slavic population. Neither development is planned nor an excavation required according to the polluter pays principle, as the costs amount to around 500,000 euros.
Today's Altenkrempe community was formed in 1938 from the communities of Kassau and Altenkrempe.
