Kasseedorf is a municipality in the Ostholstein district in Schleswig-Holstein .
geography
Kasseedorf consists of the districts Bergfeld , Freudenholm, Griebel, Holzkaten, Kasseedorf, Sagau, Stendorf and Vinzier.
The Stendorfer See lies between Kasseedorf and Stendorf . It is 54 hectares in size, up to 8 m deep, about 32.6 m above sea level. NN and is traversed by the Schwentine . In the district of Griebel is the Griebeler See and south of the village of Oberteich .
history
The place was first mentioned in 1201 as Chuserestorp . Since the Bungsberg primeval forest soon belonged to the village, several clearing villages were created there. The name Chuserestorp is derived from the components Chusere "chaste" and torp "village", ie the "village of chaste". The basis for this were monks who lived here when the village was founded. The last evidence can be found in the form of the old Stickenhuus in today's Griebeler Straße. Between 1348 and 1639 the place was ravaged by the plague several times.
In 1784 the coupling began , in which the farmers were assigned their own fields instead of the common land and curtains were laid out. The peasants and farm workers were released from serfdom in 1805, but they now had to lease their land from the estate. In 1814, Russian troops were housed in Kasseedorf as part of the Sixth Coalition War .
Gut Stendorf
The name of the estate, which was first mentioned in the 13th century, and the associated village was originally Steendorpe (Steindorf). Initially, the Motte and the village of Wendisch-Alverstorp were on the Seekoppel in what would later become Gut Stendorf. It belonged to the noble Holstein family von Alverstorp. These sold their lands to the Cismar monastery , so z. B. in 1354 Stephan v. Alverstorp the Meierhof Rethwisch. Alverstorp was still owned by Claus v. Alverstorp; the noble family died out around 1435. Kasseedorf, Sagau and Griebel belonged to the manor district. From 1654, the estate, together with the Mönchneversdorf and Lensahn estates, formed an indivisible family property, which included 13 estates when the estate districts were dissolved in 1928.
In the 18th century the estate was fundamentally redesigned. Instead of the original mansion, which was surrounded by a moat and where the administrator's house now stands, a new mansion was built in 1750 and a spacious park was laid out. The entire estate and village has been a listed building since 1985. The village and manor complex is almost completely preserved today.
In 1876 a castle was built on a hill on the Stendorfer See, but it was not inhabited all year round and was used as a hunting lodge. In 1932 the former hunting lodge was converted into today's mansion by the Malent architect Alfred Schulze .
Until 1932 the estate was owned by the Dukes of Oldenburg. In 1932 the 450-hectare estate was sold to a Hamburg merchant family and is now owned by the Herzog family. In the years 2000 to 2008, the buildings of the property were fundamentally renovated and the park was partially restored.
Gut Stendorf is still used for agriculture today. The total size of the farm today amounts to about 1,300 hectares of arable land, about 250 hectares of forest and the approximately 50 hectare Stendorfer See, which is fed by the Schwentine. Gut Stendorf and its village are now part of the Kasseedorf municipality with around 40 inhabitants. The estate is managed by the estate management located on the farm.
Due to its idyllic location, Stendorf has served as a filming location for several television and cinema films over the past decades:
- 1943: Immensee (UFA), cinema production based on the novella by Theodor Storm
- 2001: The Blue Bird (Bavaria Film), two-part television film based on the novel by Utta Danella
- 2005: My Sister's Secret (Relevant Film), television production
- 2012: The Taste of Apple Kernels (Bavaria Film Distribution and Production), cinema production based on the novel by Katharina Hagena
