The office was created on January 1, 2005 from the municipalities of the previous offices of Neustadt-Land and Schönwalde .

geography

The official area extends in the middle of the Ostholstein district. It is bounded in the west by the highest point in Schleswig-Holstein, the Bungsberg , and in the east by the Baltic Sea .
