Geography and traffic

Beschendorf is about 5 km south of Lensahn and thus also from the exit of the federal motorway 1 of the same name . Neustadt in Holstein is about 10 km south of Lensahn . The Vogelfluglinie / Lübeck – Puttgarden railway line runs through the community.

history

Archaeological finds show that the municipality was settled in the Neolithic , Bronze Age and Iron Age .

The place was first mentioned in 1322 as Becekendorp , i.e. village of Bezeco .

In 1901 the pig guild was founded, which still organizes the summer festival today. Originally it was an organization that helped pig fatteners who got into financial difficulties due to animal diseases. Today this task is carried out by the State Animal Disease Fund.

The St. Mattäus chapel in Beschendorf was built in 1968 on the outskirts, but many churchgoers still prefer the services in Lensahn, so that services are only held in the chapel on public holidays.
