Erich Könen

Erich Heinrich Könen (born January 16, 1955 in Wittlich ) is a Brigadier General a. D. of the army of the Bundeswehr .

Military career

Training and first uses

Könen joined the Bundeswehr in 1974 and completed his training as a maintenance officer in Bexbach and Aachen . In 1975 he began studying mechanical engineering at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg and then had several uses in his military class, including a. in Koblenz .

General staff training and service as a staff officer

From 1987 to 1989, Könen completed the 30th general staff course at the command academy of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg and was then deployed there as a G3. Another G3 use followed in the Federal Armed Forces Command USA and Canada in Reston , Virginia . Back in Germany in 1995, Könen became the commander of the repair battalion 110 in Coesfeld . Two years later he switched to the command staff of the Armed Forces (Fü S) II 4 in Bonn , before starting his first position in the Army Office in 2001. In 2003 there was another stay abroad, this time at Harvard University in the USA . In 2004 Könen returned to the Fü S and became Head of Division IV 4 (Bundeswehr Plan).

General uses

From October 1, 2008 to 2012, Könen was department head V in the Army Office , Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler branch and from 2012 to 2017 head of the “Combat” department at the Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Use of the Bundeswehr in Koblenz.

Orders and awards

Könen has been awarded the Bundeswehr Cross of Honor in Gold and the Meritorious Service Medal.
