Hillfoots Villages

The Hillfoots Villages can be seen from the air as lined up villages in the middle of the picture in an easterly direction.

As hillfoots villages or short Hillfoots is south of a cluster of villages Ochil Hills in Scotland called. They are almost on a line directly in front of the steep southern slopes of the Ochils. Starting in the west, the Hillfoots Villages include: Blairlogie , Menstrie , Alva , Tillicoultry , Dollar , Pool of Muckhart and Yetts of Muckhart . With the exception of Blairlogie, which is located in the Stirling Council Area , all localities are administratively part of Clackmannanshire . The A91 passes through all of the Hillfoots Villages on its way from Stirling to St Andrews .

Historically, textile manufacturing was an important industry in the Hillfoots Villages and contributed significantly to their development. The companies used the numerous mountain streams along the slopes to generate energy. Tweed , tartans and knitwear have been produced there since the 16th century .
