Erich Leucht (born August 7, 1902 in Plauen , † January 17, 1990 in Heilbronn ) was a German locksmith , trade unionist and politician ( KPD ). He was a member of the Heilbronn municipal council from 1932/33 and from 1946 to 1959. During the Nazi period he was arrested several times and imprisoned in concentration camps. From May to November 1950 he was a member of the state parliament of Württemberg-Baden .

Life

Leucht was a locksmith in Heilbronn and married. From 1920 he was a member of the German Metal Workers' Association , in 1932 he joined the Revolutionary Trade Union Opposition .

Leucht was a member of the SPD from 1924 to 1928 . From 1930 he was the political leader of the Heilbronn KPD, for which he was elected to the Heilbronn municipal council in December 1931 (joined on January 28, 1932) . He took part in demonstrations against the NSDAP and appeared as a speaker at rallies. At the last major rally of the Heilbronn KPD on February 25, 1933, he warned on the market square that anyone voting for Hitler in the upcoming Reichstag election on March 5, 1933 would also vote for war, which the police present saw as incitement against politically dissenting people.

A few days later, on March 2, 1933, Leucht was arrested like almost the entire Heilbronn KPD leadership. He was taken into “ protective custody ” and was initially in the police prison on Wilhelmstrasse and then from March 28 to 31 in the Heuberg concentration camp , where he was mistreated. He was arrested again on August 24, 1934 and sentenced to two years in prison in July 1935. After leaflets against the war appeared in Heilbronn, Leucht was arrested again together with other communists on September 1, 1939 and was taken to Buchenwald concentration camp until July 8, 1940 .

After the end of the Nazi dictatorship, Leucht became involved in trade unions again. On November 25, 1945 he was elected as the second authorized representative of the Heilbronn IG Metall , and from May 18, 1946 he was the first authorized representative of the Heilbronn administrative office of IG Metall. He was always confirmed in this position and held it until February 28, 1966.

At the post-war founding assembly of the Heilbronn KPD on October 21, 1945, Leucht was elected first chairman. He was a member of the Heilbronn municipal council again from May 26, 1946. On November 15, 1953, he was re-elected until 1959. When Rudolf Kohl resigned his state parliament mandate, Leucht moved up in the constituency of Heilbronn and belonged to the state parliament of Württemberg-Baden from May 10 to November 19, 1950 .
