Erich Sendel

Erich Sendel (born April 14, 1917 in Katowice , Upper Silesia , † October 2, 1988 in Henstedt-Ulzburg ) was a German musician, organist, pianist, composer and arranger .

Life

Erich Sendel grew up in Katowice as the son of the musician Wilhelm Sendel and his wife Margarete. He began training as a violinist and pianist, and his studies at the conservatory were interrupted by the Second World War. During the war Sendel was the leader of an underground band in the music corps.

After the war he was sent to Hamburg and began doing combo work, making arrangements for publishers and composing his own, especially music for cultural films. In 1956 he began to work with the Hammond organ . The versatile variation and sound possibilities fascinated him. He was Kapellmeister and arranger at ARIOLA and freelancer for other record companies. Sendel made recordings for PHILIPS and METRONOME as a soloist and freelance television assistant for the television films "MAGICULUM", for which he also wrote the theme music. He was also a regular guest on RADIO BREMEN in the “Sendung zum Feierabend” and the series “Hafenkonzert” when recording for other radio stations and on a tour of Germany with Heinz Erhardt . He also played in the "Theater am Besenbinderhof " in Hamburg .

He was an ensemble musician and soloist in the orchestras of Victor Reschke, Franz Thon, Alfred home, Richard Müller-Lampertz and Kurtwege. In the orchestra Bela Sanders was involved in recordings for PHILIPS, METRONOME and BASF . He also wrote piano and combo arrangements for the CITY SOUNDS SERIES.
