Erick or Erick City is a town in Beckham County on Route 66 in Oklahoma . According to the United States Census Bureau, the population is 1,023 people (as of 2000) .

Erick is the hometown of two famous people, namely the two country singers Roger Miller and Sheb Wooley . Miller was not born there, however; he only grew up there since he was three.

Erick was founded in 1901 as a farmer and rancher community. The city was named after Beeks Erick and was mainly used by ranchers to pass through, as Erick's water sources were perfect for the large herds of cattle. For a long time, Erick was Oklahoma's westernmost city.

The city quickly experienced a rise, as oil and gas were found in the area. It was hoped to become another “Oklahoma boomtown”. In the 1940s, however, growth stagnated and from then on all hopes of an economic boom were dashed.

At the time of the United States Census 2000, Erick lived in 1023 people. The population density was 403.0 people per km 2 . There were 556 housing units at an average of 219.1 per km 2 . The population of Erick was 93.45% White , 0.10% Black or African American , 0.88% Native American , 0.20% Asian , 0% Pacific Islander , 2.05% said to be of other races and 3.32% named two or more races. 4.69% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.

The residents of Erick distributed to 429 households out of which 28.2% were living in children under 18 years. 50.3% of households were married, 10.0% had a female head of the household without a husband, and 36.4% were not families. 34.0% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 19.3% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.34 and the average family size was 3.01.
