Erik Endel Paartalu (born May 3, 1986 in Sydney , New South Wales ) is an Australian football player of Estonian origin.
Club career
Erik Paartalu started playing football in his hometown Sydney in the youth of FC Northern Spirit. The tall Paartalu played at Spirit until 2000 before joining the New South Wales Institute of Sport . After he left this, he went back to FC Spirit where this made his professional debut in the National Soccer League against the Melbourne Knights . In 2004 Paartalu played for a few months in the New South Wales Super League for the Northern Tigers. At the end of the year, the midfielder moved to league rivals the Parramatta Eagles . In 2008 he was hired by FC Gretna in Scotland before being loaned out to Stirling Albion in the second half of the 2007/08 season . Paartalu made his debut for the "Binos" away against Hamilton Academical in New Douglas Park on January 5, 2008. When the lending business ended, the player moved to Greenock Morton due to the forced relegation of FC Gretna . After four years in Europe, Paartalu went back to Australia and signed a three-year contract with Brisbane Roar .
With Brisbane he reached the Grand Final in the 2010/11 season, which is the final of the championship. After it had been 0-0 after regular playing time, Paartalu scored in the 120th minute after 0-2 deficit, 2-2 after a corner from Thomas Broich . In the subsequent penalty shootout, he also scored 2-2, shortly afterwards Matt McKay and Henrique scored the decisive goals for the 4-2 win in the penalty thriller.
Paartalu came to Melbourne City in September 2014 via Tianjin Teda and Muangthong United in Asia .
