Erik Reitz (born July 29, 1982 in Detroit , Michigan ) is a former American ice hockey player who was last under contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian ice hockey league .

Career

Erik Reitz began his career as a hockey player with the Barrie Colts , for which he was active from 1999 to 2002 in the Ontario Hockey League . During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2000 in the sixth round as a total of 170 players by the Minnesota Wild . After Reitz had already played for three years for Minnesota's farm team , the Houston Eros from the American Hockey League , with whom he won the Calder Cup in 2003 , he made his debut in the National Hockey League for the Wild during the 2005/06 season . In total, the defender came to five appearances in his first NHL season, followed by one use in the regular season and two in the playoffs in the following two seasons.

In early 2009, the Minnesota Wild gave the American to the New York Rangers , who in turn transferred him to the Toronto Maple Leafs shortly before the end of the trade deadline . However, these did not use him in the further course of the season. Since his contract expired in the summer, he moved to HK Sibir Novosibirsk in the Continental Hockey League . For the 2010/11 season Reitz was signed by the EC Red Bull Salzburg , but until 2012 he only played 19 games for the EC. In January 2012, his contract was terminated.

International

For the USA Reitz took part in the Junior World Championships in 2002 , in which he reached fifth place with the team.
