Erik von Markovik (born September 24, 1971 in Toronto , real name Eric James Horvat-Marković ), also known under the stage name Mystery , is a Canadian author, magician and seduction artist .

In the autobiographical novel The Perfect Mesh (original title: The Game ) by journalist Neil Strauss , he was one of the protagonists and thus became known to a wider public for the first time. He achieved greater popularity with the publication of his own books and his television series The Pickup-Artist .

biography

Erik von Markovik was born to a Canadian-Croatian mother and a German father. In his youth he worked as a magician in Canadian clubs, always with the aim of becoming a famous illusionist. According to his own statements, a late developer and inhibited due to difficult family circumstances, he spent years refining his skills in dealing with women and his art of seduction. From this he developed the mystery method , named after his artist name in the Seduction community . He started his own company, conducted seminars and published several successful books on the subject. Thanks to Neil Strauss , who himself became part of the scene through the assignment to report on the scene, Mystery achieved lasting popularity, although Strauss did not hold back in descriptions of Mystery's depression and his alleged arrogance and egomania.

In 2007 he received his own reality TV series under the title The Pickup Artist , which has been broadcast on VH1 in two seasons so far . In Germany it was shown on MTV .

Erik von Markovik now has a long-time girlfriend and a daughter.
