Matej Delač (born August 20, 1992 in Gornji Vakuf-Uskoplje , Bosnia and Herzegovina ) is a Croatian football goalkeeper who is under contract with AC Horsens .

Career

Inter Zaprešić

Delač began his career in the youth department of Inter Zaprešić . After appearances in the youth national teams, he attracted the attention of some of Europe's top clubs. In the summer of 2008 he completed a trial training at Benfica Lisbon . But the two clubs could not agree and the transfer failed.

On February 22nd, 2009 he made his debut in the 1st HNL against NK Zagreb and at the age of 16 years and 186 days he was the youngest player of all time to play in the 1st HNL. On his debut, he saved a penalty and secured his team a 1-0 win. He maintained his consistently good performance and completed 15 games by the end of the season. In the following season, another 23 were added.

Chelsea FC

In September 2009, Inter Zaprešić announced that Delač would move to Chelsea for three million euros during the winter break . He signed a five-year contract.

After he did not play a professional role at Chelsea within half a year, he was awarded for a year to the Dutch club Vitesse Arnheim . However, he did not play a league game there.

In 2011 Delač was loaned to the Czech club Dynamo České Budějovice . After only one league assignment, he returned to Chelsea.

In the summer of 2012 he was awarded to the Portuguese first division club Vitória Guimarães . However, because he was only used there once, he was loaned out directly to his former club Inter Zaprešić in January 2013. For the 2012/13 season he was awarded to the Serbian club FK Vojvodina Novi Sad . After further loan positions such as FK Sarajevo and AC Arles-Avignon , he returned to Sarajevo on loan in January 2015. This was followed by a loan to Royal Excel Mouscron , before he was permanently sold to AC Horsens in Denmark in 2018 .

National team

Between 2007 and 2010 he played in several Croatian national teams. In total, he made 25 international matches. On August 30, 2009 Delač was nominated for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers against Belarus and England . This made him the youngest Croatian player ever to be nominated for an international match. On November 16, 2010, he made his debut in a friendly against Slovenia for the U-21 national team .
