Eriosyce krausii is a species of plant in the genus Eriosyce from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet krausii honors Peter Kraus, who discovered the species.

description

Eriosyce krausii grows geophytically with almost spherical to flattened, gray-green to reddish-brown shoots and reaches a diameter of 2 to 4 centimeters. The root is a long, conical taproot . There are twelve to 14 ribs , which are divided into cusps . The very thin, needle-like, straight to slightly curved, protruding to spreading thorns are grayish. The single central spine, which can also be missing, is 2 centimeters long. The three to eight radial spines are 1 to 2 millimeters long.

The funnel-shaped, yellow flowers sometimes have a reddish central stripe. They appear from young areoles and have a diameter of 3 to 4 centimeters. Your pericarpel and the flower tube are covered with long wool and bristles. The elongated, thin-walled fruits open with a basal pore.

Distribution and systematics

Eriosyce krausii is common in the Chilean regions of Antofagasta and Atacama in coastal areas. It was first described as Chileorebutia krausii in 1959 by Friedrich Ritter . Fred Kattermann placed them in the genus Eriosyce in 1994 .
