The diocese of Uvira ( lat. : Dioecesis Uviraensis ) is in the Democratic Republic of Congo situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Uvira .

history

The diocese of Uvira was founded on April 16, 1962 by Pope John XXIII. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Sollemnis Dei from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Bukavu and the Diocese of Kasongo and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Bukavu as a suffragan .
