The Roman Catholic Diocese of Kasongo ( Latin Dioecesis Kasongoensis , French Diocèse de Kasongo ) is in the Democratic Republic of Congo situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Kasongo .

history

The diocese Kasongo was on January 10, 1952 by Pope Pius XII. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Pro supremi from assignments of territory by the Apostolic Vicariates Baudouinville and Kivu as Apostolic Vicariate Kasongo . On November 10, 1959, the Apostolic Vicariate Kasongo was by Pope John XXIII. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Bukavu as a suffragan . The diocese of Kasongo gave up on April 16, 1962 parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Uvira .
