The Diocese of Kalemie-Kirungu ( lat. : Dioecesis Kalemiensis-Kirunguensis ) is in the Democratic Republic of Congo situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Kalemie .

history

The diocese Kalemie-Kirungu was on January 11, 1887 by Pope Leo XIII. Established from the cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Tanganyika as the Apostolic Vicariate Upper Congo . On July 11, 1939, the Apostolic Vicariate Upper Congo was renamed the Apostolic Vicariate Baudouinville . The Apostolic Vicariate Baudouinville gave on January 10, 1952 parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Vicariate Kasongo .

On November 10, 1959, the Vicariate Apostolic Baudouinville was by Pope John XXIII. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Lubumbashi as a suffragan . The Diocese of Baudouinville gave on April 24, 1971 parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Manono . On August 22, 1972, the Baudouinville diocese was renamed the Kalemie-Kirungu diocese .
