Richard Cleire

Richard Cleire MAfr (born October 28, 1900 in Antwerp , Belgium , † January 8, 1968 ) was a Belgian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Kasongo .

Life

Richard Cleire joined the religious order of the White Fathers in and received on 29 June 1926, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On December 14, 1944, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Claudiopolis in Isauria and Vicar Apostolic of Kivu . The Apostolic Delegate in the Belgian Congo, Archbishop Giovanni Battista Dellepiane , donated him episcopal ordination on March 4, 1945 ; Co-consecrators were the Vicar Apostolic of Bunia , Alphonse Joseph Matthijsen MAfr, and the Vicar Apostolic of Baudouinville , Urbain Etienne Morlion MAfr.

Pius XII. appointed him on January 10, 1952 as the first Vicar Apostolic of Kasongo. Richard Cleire was due to the elevation of the Apostolic Vicariate Kasongo for on 10 November 1959 the diocese first bishop of Kasongo. On April 5, 1963, Pope John XXIII. the resignation put forward by Cleire and appointed him titular bishop of Tadamata .

Cleire attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
