Léonard Dhejju

Léonard Dhejju (born March 14, 1931 in Dele, † June 4, 2019 in Bunia ) was a Congolese clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Bunia .

Life

Léonard Dhejju studied theology at the Lovanium Catholic University of Kinshasa (formerly Leopoldville). He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Bunia on August 23, 1959 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Uvira on March 26, 1981 . The Archbishop of Bukavu , Aloys Mulindwa Mutabesha Mugoma Mweru , donated him episcopal ordination on July 19 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Gabriel Ukec , Bishop Emeritus of Bunia, and Tharcisse Tshibangu Tshishiku , Auxiliary Bishop in Kinshasa .

On July 2, 1984, he was appointed Bishop of Bunia. On April 6, 2002, John Paul II accepted his early resignation.
