Ernest Majo

Ernest Majo (von Majowski) (born August 25, 1916 in Herne , † August 22, 2002 in Schramberg ) was a German composer , conductor , musician and professor . He also used the pseudonyms Jean Arimont and Ernst Sloma .

Growing up in a family making music, he began his music studies in 1932 at the Folkwang University in Essen , namely composition with Ottmar Gerster (1897–1969) and instrumentation and harmony with Hermann Erpf (1891–1969). In 1936 he joined a marine music corps. In 1938 he worked in the municipal orchestras in Gera , Ratibor and Hildesheim . In 1940 he was drafted again into the Marine Music Corps. After the war he settled back in Hildesheim. Between 1956 and 1962 he worked in various Bundeswehr music corps. Then he moved to Schramberg in the Black Forest , where he was municipal music director of the Schramberg town music club from 1967 to 1976 and head of the town music school.

This includes the march as well as the symphonic poetry, the educational game music as well as the respective avant-garde composition, absolute and functional, open-air and concert hall music, sacred and secular works.
