The Ernest River (Eng .: 'Ernst River') is a river in the southwest of the Australian state of Western Australia .
geography
The river has its source on the southern slopes of the Darling Range . From there it flows to the southwest, where it joins the Brunswick River .
history
The river was named in 1830 by Governor James Stirling after Ernst August I , King of Hanover and Prince of Braunschweig - Lüneburg . In 1813 the king was a passenger on the HMS Brazen , on which Stirling was the captain.
The other names and titles of the king were partly processed in other rivers in the region, such as the Brunswick River (German: 'Braunschweig-Fluss'), the Augustus River (German: 'August-Fluss') and the Lunenburgh River ( German: 'Lüneburg River').
